The heart of kerala in mid-michigan(Lansing)

About us
The Malayalee Association of Lansing (MAALA) is a vibrant, non-profit community built by and for Malayalees in the Lansing area. Since our start in October 2009, we’ve been on a mission to bring the warmth, color, and joy of Kerala to Mid-Michigan.
Kerala—aka God’s Own Country—is known for its backwaters, lush greenery, festive traditions, and of course, some of the tastiest food on the planet! No matter how far we are from home, we Malayalees take pride in keeping our language, culture, and values alive.
At MAALA, we host a variety of events throughout the year—Onam celebrations, cultural shows, talent nights, charity drives, and more—all designed to bring our community closer and keep the Kerala spirit glowing.
Whether you're new to Lansing or a long-time local, come join the fun. MAALA is more than a group—it’s family. Let’s celebrate Kerala, together!
Vision
To promote the rich culture of Kerala and uncompromising virtues of Keralites for the betterment of all in the community we live.
Mission
Our mission is to celebrate and share the vibrant culture, traditions, and values of Kerala through engaging community events, educational initiatives, and cultural exchanges. We strive to foster unity, inclusivity, and mutual growth by upholding the timeless virtues of Keralites, enriching our community and extending our cultural connection to others in the society.
